You'd be surprised at how much water can get through there before you came to this conclusion that it needs resealing.
Use a utility knife and get as much out as you can. When you reseal it, make sure the finished surface is smooth (use your finger). If not smooth, it will be harder to clean and collect mold / mildew much quicker.
